Licensing & Authentication
- What does it mean to be licensed and authorized?
- By the professional golfers...
- Pro Tour has been given the right in a contract with each individual golfer:
- to obtain a large supply in the world of original autographs from the golfer
- to manufacture, market and sell the golfer's memorabilia
- to manufacture, market and sell the golfer's reproduced signature
- to use the golfer's endorsements to promote our products and company
- Other companies cannot do what Pro Tour does
- they get autographs posing as would be fans at tournaments or by purchasing them in the secondary market
- they cannot get large quantities unless they are fake signatures
- no other company has access to the pros and quantity of product like Pro Tour
- their product is not reliable to be authentic
- their sales are unlicensed
- it is against the law for them to sell unsigned photos or to reproduce signatures
- By the PGA TOUR
- Pro Tour is officially licensed by the PGA TOUR and the Senior PGA TOUR
- No other company has been awarded this presitigious license
- Pro Tour works with the PGA TOUR to clean up fraud in the memorabilia business
Authentication
- Pro Tour pioneered the authentication of golf memorabilia
- Golfers have contracts with Pro Tour
- Golfers approve all photographs
- All autographs are signed in the presence of a witness
- The golfer and the witness sign an affadavit certifying the authenticity of the signatures, the number and description of all items signed and the date and location of the signing is noted
- A certificate of authenticity bearing the Pro Tour and PGA TOUR logos is issued
- No other certification is as reliable!
- The FBI reports (March 1997) that 70% of all autographed sports memorabilia is fake.
- The only way to know it is real is to witness it for yourself or to look for the Pro Tour and PGA TOUR logos.
